Conference concludes Camp Meeting 2018 in Barbados
POSTED: 05 Apr 2018
The East Caribbean concluded its Camp Meeting with an island-wide convention in Barbados. Under the theme 'Embracing transformation through Christ,' the meeting theme song was fittingly titled 'Transformed to Serve', a piece written and composed by Ps Glenworth Joseph.
The guest speaker for Camp Meeting was Ps Herman L. Davis Sr, from the Florida Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. The programme was held with four objectives, these being:
1) to deepen the spirituality of our members
2) to challenge our members to actively experience change, gaining victory over at least one their besetting sins
3) to expose our members to new ideas in mission and church growth
4) to invite members to invest in their church and its development and
5) to inveigle members to develop to their fullest potential and giftedness.
The programme began on Wednesday 28th March 2018 at 6:30 pm and continued daily with morning devotions at 6:30 am and evening devotions at 6:30 pm. The programme was carded to conclude over the Easter weekend and on Good Friday morning, a day with a focus on humility and Ordinance of the Lord's Supper was held.
A section of the audience at Sabbath programme
During his Sabbath greetings, Ps R. Danforth Francis, the Conference President, reported on a recent major Evangelism event in Guyana at which Ps. Joel James and Ps Colin Thorne were representative pastors from Barbados. This event featured fifty (50) pastors from across the Caribbean Union. After the one-week evangelism effort, over 1,300 hundred persons were baptised.
The Sabbath morning programme was blessed with a number of special items including two musical items from the visiting USC Music group. As the members of the USC Music group provided their rendition '10'000 reasons to love our Lord' it seems to reflect the challenges the group faced to minister in Trinidad. The rendition was not presented by the usual numbers and its associated gusto, but praise was given to God with heart praise.
Special guest in attendance included Bro Roderick Bell and his wife Tammy, a technical consultant associated with 3ABN.
It was a great note to conclude the Sabbath morning session with the Camp Meeting Speaker singing 'Im so glad Jesus lifted me', followed by a call for dedicatory prayer.
